Choose what the window should do
Start with the goal: display an offer, add privacy, show opening hours or create a branded storefront. Opaque graphics, clear graphics, frosted effects and perforated materials create different visual results. Ask which side of the glass the graphic will be installed on and viewed from. Review lighting, glass type and the view from both sides before choosing.
Measure the glass, not the whole frame
Photograph each pane and label its measurements. Note seals, handles, dividers and any existing tint or coating. Keep artwork aligned across separate panes, but allow for the installation clearances required by the film. Request a proof that shows the actual panel breaks.
Use the right application method
Avery Dennison’s perforated-window guidance specifies a dry application and clearance from window moldings. Do not apply that instruction to every clear or frosted film: wet-versus-dry application, cleaning and temperature requirements depend on the exact product. Follow its current bulletin and any glass-compatibility limits.
- Confirm the exact film name before installation.
- Prepare and dry the surface as the product instructions require.
- Use the specified tools and avoid scratching the glass or printed surface.
Prepare the order for production
Confirm inside or outside viewing, panel dimensions and whether the design needs special white-ink or backing treatment. Printing on a clear material behaves differently from printing on white media. Ask to review how the chosen construction affects the colors and visibility of your design.
Give passersby one reason to stop
Put the main service or offer where approaching customers can read it, with business hours close to the entrance. Avoid covering every pane with fine print. A salon can pair a service headline with a booking link; a restaurant can point to a current menu. Keep the online destination consistent with the window offer.
